These tables contain statistics on U.S. international services, including cross-border (balance of payments) trade and services supplied through majority-owned affiliates, released in conjunction with the publication of the October 2009 SURVEY OF CURRENT BUSINESS.
In October 2009, statistics for cross-border transactions were revised for 2006-2007 and preliminary statistics were released for 2008. For services supplied through majority-owned affiliates, statistics were revised for 2004-2006 and preliminary statistics were released for 2007. Beginning with the statistics on services supplied through affiliates released this October, the measures include services provided by depository institutions for 2004 forward. This change completed the improvements started in October 2008 with the introduction of new measures of insurance and wholesale and retail trade that are more akin to services output than a sales-based measure.
