Director Vipin Arora Dr. Arora oversees production of closely watched statistics that provide a comprehensive picture of the U.S. economy, aiding the decision-making of businesses, policymakers, and households. Deputy Director Patricia Abaroa Ms. Abaroa works to enhance and expand BEA's statistical programs and their impact and helps to shape the agency's highest priority research projects. Chief Economist Dennis J. Fixler Dr. Fixler is primarily responsible for statistical quality including source data, methods, interagency data sharing, dissemination policies, and leading selected research efforts. Associate Director for National Economic Accounts David Wasshausen Mr. Wasshausen oversees the calculation of economic statistics that track the performance of the U.S. economy, including gross domestic product (GDP) and its major components, such as consumer spending and business investment. Associate Director for International Economics Paul Farello Mr. Farello is responsible for estimating U.S. economic activity with the rest of the world including trade, transactions, foreign direct investment, and activities of multinational enterprises. Associate Director for Regional Economics Mauricio Ortiz Mr. Ortiz oversees the calculation of economic statistics for states, counties, and metropolitan areas, as well as regional economic multipliers. Chief Information Officer Param Soni Mr. Soni provides leadership and direction for the Bureau's information technology program.
